What is the name you go by + where are you from? "I go by Clyde black and I'm representing a small town called Randolph. When it comes to music I am a rapper, singer, and songwriter." [Photo by @markikarosegold]
When did you start your journey with music? How did you start? "I started taking music seriously around the age of 17 or 18. At first, it was just writing poetry and freestyling for hours with the homies, whenever and wherever we could. When it comes to singing, it was always something I did but never thought I ACTUALLY could do foreal until I got yelled at enough by the guys. (dienue)" What is your favorite experience(s) as a music artist? My favorite experiences are usually the normal ones. Being in the studio with people who inspire me and just making whatever the room feels like at the time. Being in a hyper creative/productive environment never gets old, especially when there's so much talent in one room. What is something you feel that people don’t see behind the scenes? "I feel like people don't see how much of an emotional toll this all takes. Us artists are emotional people. It's probably best that we express ourselves through the facet we belong to (for the most part), but sometimes our well being isn't considered until it's too late, and that doesn't exclude artists of a smaller scale. With that being said, be kind to your neighbor."
Is there anything else you would like to share? What do you do in your free time?
"In my free time, I'm probably reading manga, playing smash bros or researching a design aspect about an article of clothing or something related to that. I'm often researching or hunting for clothing and sneakers. I like new ideas and picking the brains of artists in very different worlds than mine."
What is something you feel that goes unnoticed about artists like you? "Something that goes unnoticed about artists like me or at least overlooked is that we're pretty average people for the most part. Besides that, I think anything that goes unnoticed about an individual is usually an aspect the artist is working towards already, and those aspects could vary person to person." What are some accomplishments you’ve done during your journey? What are some challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them? "My biggest accomplishment within my music journey is finding a sense of confidence. The Lack of has led to years of overthinking and hyper unrealistic self criticism. I would be lying if I said I overcame those things, and I don't think it's realistic to think that you can ever fully rid these things either. Learning healthier habits, allowing yourself the room to breath and having a support system who can tell you when to shut up is irreplaceable. I wouldn't be where I am without my friends." What is some advice you’d like to give to artists like you? "The greatest piece of advice I can give is beware of impostor syndrome and that chronic self doubt is a real thing. Dont always be a tough guy when it comes to yourself."
Clyde's message to you! "I would like for my audience and supporters to know that I truly am grateful in an endless way. I will continue to work on myself. New things coming soon." FEATURED HERE ↴
